  • Prevailing wage requires employers to pay prevailing wage hourly pay plus fringe benefits and pay overtime after 8 hours on a job site. 
  • Prevailing wages are set by the Department of Labor based on wage reports, location and type of work, and includes commercial, highway heavy and residential. 
  • Prevailing wage promotes the use of a trained workforce.
  • Prevailing wage incentivizes hiring apprentices in a certified apprenticeship program, by requiring journey-level and apprentice wage scale.
