Girl Scouts work towards badge at Southeast WI Carpentry Training Center

In mid-April, 14 Girl Scouts from Troop 8551 worked towards their Journey Badge at the Southeast Wisconsin Carpentry Training Center in Pewaukee, Wis. The Scouts worked in groups building three bat boxes. Bat boxes provide bats a safe, warm place to raise their young, and the Scouts plan to donate the boxes they built to a local park or nature reserve. Once the boxes were complete, each Scout built a birdhouse to take home with them.

“It was a pleasure working with Troop 8551 this week,” said Jim Anderson, Business Representative and coordinator of the build. “The Scouts were determined, focused and excited to learn something new. We look forward to building with them again.”

Two Sisters in the Brotherhood and four additional volunteers helped the troop work towards their Journey Badge, the badge for career discovery.
