About S.T. Cotter

Shawn Cotter, member of Millwrights Local 548, is the owner and business manager of S.T. Cotter Turbine Services, Inc., a union contractor since its beginnings in 2007. Shawn has been a member of Local 548 since 1991. He is a fourth-generation millwright and a second-generation union contractor.

Shawn’s wife and business partner Nichole is the President and CEO of S.T. Cotter. She brings experience in financial banking and marketing and a set of unique core competencies that Shawn believes makes the business balance. Having a woman-owned Millwright business is a unique aspect of S.T. Cotter that some owners look for and like when looking for work.

Shawn is also the owner of Axis Mechanical Group (AMG) based out of Houston, TX and R & S Maintenance and Repairs Services, LP (R&S) of Calgary, Canada. John Hanks is the President (member of 2232- Houston local) of AMG and Rodney Johnson is the President of R&S. With Shawn’s experience and relationships within the United Brotherhood of Carpenters he is able to bring clarity to jurisdictional and cultural issues working throughout the Western Hemisphere. His broad range of Union experiences in his 26 years started at home with NCSRCC.

About working with the union, specifically NCSRCC, Shawn says, “I’ve enjoyed progressing in my career and seeing guys I did my apprenticeship with progress in theirs as well. It’s nice to still have those connections in the union and it makes working through contracts that much better.” He adds, “Relationships are much easier in the home local area because people understand who I am and what our business is about. It’s a good group of people.”
