UBC

We are the Carpenters Union. Our mission is straightforward: To gain 70% market share in the construction industry. We provide better training, better performance, and a better life for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

The UBC dates back to 1881. More than a century ago, the Brotherhood led the fight that changed American workplaces forever — the fight to create the 8-hour workday.

Today, we lead the fight to make sure our members — and all Carpenters — earn wages, benefits and working conditions they deserve in exchange for the skill and productivity they bring to the job.

We proudly partner with our signatory contractors to raise the standards of our industry — and to raise the standard of living for all of us.

Today, we mobilize to make life better for all workers. We promote and define industry standards such as job safety, prevailing wages, strong apprenticeship training, and opportunity. We fight for fair economic and trade policies at every level in the public and private sectors. We continue to expose unscrupulous developers and contractors who drag down area standards, exploit workers and cheat our communities.

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters has nearly half of a million members organized into hundreds of Local Unions across the U.S. Through these Locals, our members stand together in Regional Councils to maximize our strength and power.
