Veterans and Military Personnel
The Carpenters Union is proud to support veterans and active miliatry personnel looking to build a rewarding career in the construction industry. Whether you are transitioning out of the military or currently serving and planning for the future, we offer a direct, debt-free pathway to success.
Through partnership with the UBC's Helmets to Hardhats program, eligible veterans and service members receive direct entry into our Carpenters Training Institute (CTI) Apprenticeship Program - no need to wait for a signatory contractor to sponsor you in. You can begin your apprenticeship right away and immediately become eligible for job placement opportunities across our region.

G.I. Bill Calculator
Take advantage of your G.I. Bill benefits while training for a rewarding career in the construction industry!
Because our registered apprenticeship program is approved by the federal government, eligible veterans can use their G.I. Bill benefits to supplement their income during training. These benefits are in addition to the wages you earn as an apprentice.
The exact amount you receive will depend on a few factors, including:
- The specific G.I. Bill program you qualify for.
- Your eligibility percentage.
- Your current level of training.
Your G.I. Bill is yours to use as you need - whether that is covering living expenses, transportation, or other costs during your apprenticeship.
Curious about how much you might qualify for? Use the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs G.I. Bill Comparison Tool to estimate your personal benefits by program or location.
