Locals 308 and 1260 Raise for Muscular Dystrophy Association
Carpenters Locals 1260 and 308 raised $4,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association at the annual Union Bowl Challenge held on March 25 in Waterloo, IA. The annual bowling fundraiser is organized by the Black Hawk Labor Council and is a competition between locals in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids to see which city can raise the most money for MDA. A total of more than $40,000 total was raised through event.
Eight teams from the Carpenter Locals participated in this year’s fundraiser. The two Carpenter Locals have competed separately in the past, but are planning to combine in future years with the goal of being the largest fundraising group represented at the event. In addition to competition between the two cities, there is friendly competition between different trades to be the largest fundraiser overall.
