Asst. Attorney General Kevin McCarthy Set to Begin New Career with Carpenters

On Monday, January 11, 2021, Iowa Assistant Attorney General Kevin McCarthy will begin employment at the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRCC). McCarthy will be working on government affairs as well as worker exploitation, fraud, and safety issues within the construction industry. McCarthy served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2003 until 2013. He was the House Majority Leader from 2006-2010 and, during his last three years there, was the House Minority Leader.

John Raines, Executive Secretary-Treasurer at the NCSRCC stated, “I am pleased to welcome Kevin McCarthy to the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters. Kevin’s longstanding commitment to legal representation, enforcement and politics will enhance our organization. Kevin has supported hardworking people his entire career. His demonstrated leadership with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office will greatly benefit our industry, members and their families.”

McCarthy will depart his current position as an Assistant Attorney General with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Tom Miller said, “Kevin has provided extraordinary service and dedication to our office and to the public. He will bring a diverse background of government experience to his new role. He has worked in a variety of areas over the years, including consumer protection, criminal law, sentencing reform and tobacco regulation. You can always count on Kevin. The combination of his skills and dedication will be missed.”

North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRCC) represents 27,000 members in 46 Locals and 17 training centers throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Members in the six-state area include carpenters, industrial workers, interior systems carpenters, millwrights, pile drivers and floor coverers.
