Car and Bike Show Raises Funds for Food Shelf
The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters hosted its eighth annual Car and Bike Show on Saturday, September 28, 2019. More than 150 people attended the fundraising event, showcasing 90 cars ranging in year, make and models. Prizes were awarded to the Top 20 entries and included a Best of Class trophy awarded to Gordy Bossen and his ’34 Chevy.
Led by Millwrights Local 548 and Piledrivers Local 1847, this year’s show exceeded last years by bringing in $4,207 to benefit NCSRCC’s Food Shelf. Noah Pratt, NCSRCC Business Representative and a Piledriver of Local 1847 stated, “This event grows each year as we see more cars and bikes entering the show. People spend a great deal of time and money on these cars, and we are fortunate to have them share with all of us. I’d like to especially thank everyone who volunteered, brought a car or bike down, or sponsored our event. The money raised is important to families who fall on hard times, and it is important that we help out our brothers and sisters in need.”
Twin Cities area Retirees run a weekly food bank to assist members and their families who are out of work. The food bank is open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Regional Council’s office at 710 Olive Street, Saint Paul. Members from any Minnesota Local are eligible to receive goods by showing your Union card.
A special thank you to this year’s Car and Bike Show sponsors:
