North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters’ Statement on Racial Equality

The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRCC) gives our sincerest condolences to George Floyd’s family as they struggle with his unnecessary murder. We stand by his loved ones and all communities in pursuit of racial equality and inclusion in not only Minnesota but throughout the world.

We condemn and reject racism in any form, knowing that we all have a part to play in creating change, finding justice, and ending violence and hate that destroys the communities in which we live. We are committed to positive reform; a commitment in which we have centered our values, beliefs and our actions.

As our neighborhoods move to rebuild what was lost and construct what has never been, NCSRCC will continue to support and assist communities in this effort. We will expand diversity within our membership by providing equitable training opportunities to members in our skilled trade, our apprenticeship program and the exceptional training available to our membership. We will continue to distribute food to those who lost resources and to stand with change-makers in pursuit of safety, justice and peace for all.

Thank you for your strength, dedication and hard work during these difficult times. Each of you are valued and appreciated. We will work as one united Union, Regional Council and country to rebuild our communities into harmonious places for families to live.

Sincerely,

John Raines

Executive Secretary-Treasurer
